Portrait Painting
Suitable for all abilities, from complete beginners to more experienced artists. A relaxed, friendly, and encouraging atmosphere.
This new portrait class focuses on painting faces, working from pictures in reproduction and from life models. Using acrylic paint, we will look in detail at mixing skin tones and modelling the forms of the head. We will look at how brush marks can help to animate the sitter and give a sense of character.
Students will be introduced to different techniques and learn about the proportions of the head and how to create the illusion of volume. There will be the opportunity to go into detail with these paintings, as we will work on one picture for the duration of each lesson.
Sam will offer technical support and guidance so students feel comfortable experimenting with colour and the materials.
All artist-quality materials are included in the price of the classes,
Tea, coffee and biscuits are also provided.
